Fusion of the Old and the New
At present, Salas Real has two Asian-inspired model units
that are being shown to prospective buyers. The Angelina unit has a lot
area of 120 sq. meters and floor area of 79 sq. meters; while the Bernardita unit’s
lot area is 116 sq. meters with a floor area of 56 sq. meters.

Both units showcase a modern spin to the Bahay na Bato. Old Filipino-Spanish
touches are subtly articulated in the clean lines and simple louvers, fretwork,
columns and pedestals.

Venturing into the Visayas
ACM Landholdings is majority owned by the Philippine
Transmarine Carriers, Inc. and has been in the property development industry
for 25 years, building homes and communities mostly in Batangas and Cavite. Salas
Real is its first foray into the Visayas.
Gerardo Borromeo, chairman of ACM Landholdings, said
that there are two reasons why they chose Iloilo City as the location for their
first project in the region. First is the progressive nature of the city and surrounding
communities and, second, is the huge population of seafarers here.
“The choice of Iloilo as the site is not arbitrary. Based on
research, many seafarers call Iloilo home. In fact, the province is one of the
center for seafarers, and we see the opportunity for them to own a home here in
Salas Real,” said Borromeo.

Keeping it Green
The development will also have a clubhouse, playground,
basketball court and a greenhouse, the latter being a unique feature of all ACM
Landholdings communities. The greenhouse provides families with an additional
source of livelihood.

“In the other communities we built, we encourage homeowners
to have a small space for a community garden where they grow vegetables,
flowers and other plants. We also help them in semi-commercial quantity and the
income from this will eventually be used in the maintenance of the subdivision
as well as for their families’ needs,” said Carolina Osteria, managing director.
