To celebrate Grandparents Day, SM City
Iloilo employees went out of their usual work routines and had an early morning
bonding with the members of the Federation of Senior Citizen Affairs of the
Philippines (FSCAP)-Iloilo Chapter. This was last September 4, 2018 at Felicidad
Sy Wellness Center, Molo, Iloilo City, which is also FSCAP’s office.
This activity is part of SM’s Employee Volunteerism
Program, which encourages employees to be more involved in the community.
Along with the games, songs and dances, SM
City Iloilo brought joy to the elderly by conveying the good news that the mall
will re-paint their center for it to have a new look and be more conducive for
their activities.
Recently, the Employee Volunteerism Program
was also held in the same center wherein employees, through their personal
generosity, augmented the budget necessary for the completion of the installation
of a steel fence on the terrace area of the FSCAP office. With the steel fence
in place, the area is now safer for the elderlies.
SM City Iloilo, through the SM Cares
Committee for Senior Citizens Affairs, remains to be supportive of the welfare
of the elderly sector. Along with other SM malls nationwide, it also continues
to provide senior citizens with jobs that are commensurate to their
capabilities, such as mall greeters at SM Foodcourt, cinema and mall entrances.
