Alden Richards to lead Centerstage epic sing-off battles this Feb 16!

The quest to find the Bida Kid is on!

Beginning February 16, Kapuso viewers are in for a unique watching experience as extremely talented kids sing and move forward in achieving their dreams on GMA Network’s newest musical competition ‘Centerstage.’

Hosted by no-less-than Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards, he will take the audience through the contestants’ tough yet fun journey in finding out who’s got both the charm and the vocal prowess to take home the title and the amazing prizes at stake.

Alden Richards and Betong Sumaya

Since it’s his first time to host a competition like this, Alden shared how thrilled he is to get up close and personal with the aspirants, “It’s something new for me, it’s going to be different, ‘yun po ang challenge sa akin dito, how to deal with kids, kung paano sila mag-isip, paano ko gagawing magaan ‘yung naging desisyon ng judges at ng mga tao.”

Co-hosted by Betong Sumaya, Centerstage will gather young aspiring performers aged 7-12 from different places in the Philippines to compete against each other through songs and by outracing opponents in a series of vocal performances until only one remains.

“Sobrang excited ako, hindi naman araw-araw makakakita ako ng ganito kagagaling na mga bata kaya I’m so thankful for this opportunity. To be able to watch these contestants showcase what they’ve got, amazing talaga,” Betong shared.

Centerstage Judges Aicelle Santos, Pops Fernandez, and Mel Villena

The search will be led by equally outstanding personalities in the entertainment industry here and abroad: Kapuso Diva and international singer-artist Aicelle Santos, renowned musical director Mel Villena, and Concert Queen Ms. Pops Fernandez.

For Aicelle, she’s ready to rise up to the challenge of guiding these aspiring artists, “Lahat ng tumatayo diyan sa stage, nangangarap na makilala bilang isang mang-aawit, and for me, I’m very particular in choosing my words because you don’t want to discourage them.”

Mel expects judging to be fun yet tricky, “Kasama doon sa fun ay ‘yung some kind of technical sa pag-awit. Ako’y musical director, hinahanap ko talaga ‘yung talent ng bata at ‘yun ay dapat solid.”

Pops, in turn, expressed her eagerness to discover each contestant’s talent, “Hindi tayo nagpapahuling mga Pilipino when it comes to talent, I’m excited to see the kids, I’m curious to see how good the turn out will be.”

Who will race to the top and claim the most coveted spot of all – the Centerstage?

Under the helm of Director Louie Ignacio, follow the journey of these young contestants in Centerstage, starting February 16, every Sunday at 7:40 p.m., on GMA.
