Stories of Hope airs on GMA Power Block beginning March 15

Each one of us has a story of hope to tell.

On Monday, March 15, GMA News and Public Affairs launches “Stories of Hope”—the newest program that highlights inspiring and hopeful stories of people living extraordinary lives; riveting tales of struggles and triumphs; and how the Filipino spirit ultimately finds ways to overcome seemingly insurmountable adversities.

Stories of Hope will feature compelling stories that aim to highlight the Filipino resilience, grit, determination, and hard work that could ultimately spark a sense of inspiration in the hearts and minds of viewers.

For its initial offering, Stories of Hope presents the story of soldiers who have lost limbs during battles. In April 2019, Corporal Ariel "Prince" Reyes lost his left arm during a fierce battle in Lupon, Davao Oriental. His grenade launcher exploded after getting hit by a sniper of the armed rebel. He also lost both of his ear drums.

For Corporal Reyes, the hardest part was telling his wife and then 3-year old daughter about the tragedy. The road to recovery was also tough but was made easy with the love and support of his family.

Meanwhile, Sergeant Jovan Rey Patagani was on a rescue mission during a typhoon in Davao Oriental in 2013 when an improvised explosive device or land mine suddenly detonated. The blast disintegrated both of his legs.

Corporal Reyes and Sergeant Patagani aim to inspire others with their story of love for family and country. In due time, they plan to reactivate for duty to serve once again. Their message is to never give up, never quit, and never lose hope.

Every week, “Stories of Hope” empowers the subjects to tell their stories in their own words, offering an unfiltered and intimate look into their personal experiences.

Catch “Stories of Hope” every Monday night after Saksi beginning March 15 on GMA Network’s Power Block.
