Nearly 1,000 Taxi Drivers in Iloilo City Set to Receive Fuel Subsidy

Nearly 1,000 Iloilo City taxi drivers are set to receive fuel subsidies from the city government, part of ongoing efforts to ease the impact of rising fuel prices on the transport sector.

Mayor Raisa Treñas announced that qualified drivers may claim their ₱1,000 fuel subsidy coupons on May 8, 2026 at the Quintin Salas Gym in Jaro.

Coupon distribution will run from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., while fuel redemption is scheduled later in the day from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

According to the city government, each coupon specifies the designated fuel stations where drivers can redeem their assistance.

The mayor said the initiative is part of the city’s continuing support for the transport sector amid the ongoing increase in petroleum prices driven by the conflict in the Middle East and other global factors.

“Padayon kita sa paghatag bulig sa aton transport sector paagi sa fuel subsidy program bilang gamay lang nga bulig sa ila pag-abaga sang indi normal nga pagsaka sang petroleum products,” Treñas said.

The city government earlier rolled out fuel subsidies for members of transport groups such as tricycle operators and drivers associations (TODA) and public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers last month.

Treñas added that more fuel subsidy assistance for the transport sector is expected within the month. (PR)
