Iloilo Business Park Marks First Year as Iloilo City’s Center of Arts and Culture

Experience Iloilo City presents a month-long celebration of Ilonggo creativity.

Megaworld’s Iloilo Business Park marks the first anniversary of its designation as Iloilo City’s Center of Arts and Culture with Experience Iloilo City, a month-long program celebrating Ilonggo artistry, heritage, and community.

Running from July 1 to 31, the celebration brings seven creative expressions to life: Sculpture, Painting, Architecture, Music, Literature, Dance, and Cinema. Together, these disciplines shape a diverse lineup of public art, exhibitions, performances, workshops, film screenings, and community experiences across Iloilo Business Park.

At the center of the anniversary celebration is the unveiling and ceremonial lighting of Pagsinapol on July 17 at 5 PM at the Festive Walk Road Roundabout. Created by AR Sculptura, the public sculpture symbolizes the convergence of people, stories, ideas, and shared aspirations. It introduces a new cultural landmark within the township and a lasting expression of Iloilo’s collective spirit.

Following the lighting of the sculpture, the ABS-CBN Studios will bring the cast of Blood vs. Duty stars Gerald Anderson, Ejay Falcon, Kolette Madelo, River Joseph to the Festive Walk Road Roundabout at 8 PM. Ilonggo buskers and local music artists will also take the stage as part of the evening’s celebration.

Painting and the visual arts will be featured through a series of exhibitions and activities throughout the month. Art exhibits will be presented at Festive Walk Iloilo from July 1 to 30, while Diseño Iloilo with Tata Blas Pinuela will run from July 10 to 30. The exhibition highlights the craftsmanship of the Ilonggo designer through creations featured in national and international pageantry, including works produced for Miss Universe Iloilo.

The “Mundane: A Father and Son Conversation” by Gilopez Kabayao Foundation Photo Art Exhibit will run from July 15 to 30. On July 17, the visual arts program is strengthened with the In Circulation Artists’ Talk & Projection Photography at ILOMOCA and a Graffiti Showcase at Festive Walk Parade. An immersive facade projection, MEGA-Ani: The Great Harvest of Culture, featuring Patubas: Aning Ani—a showcase of Philippine Art Awards laureates from the Edwin Valencia Collection will also be presented on July 31 at the façade of Casa De Emperador.

Architecture and design take focus through the Pinta Ciudad Arts Competition on July 23 at the Annex Building. Presented in partnership with the United Architects of the Philippines Hamili Chapter, the competition invites participants to interpret the identity and character of Iloilo City through art, architecture, and design.

Adding to the celebration are three immersive art installations at Festive Walk Iloilo, each showcasing the province's rich heritage, artistry, and natural beauty.

Suspended above the Garden Atrium, Flourish: The Threads of Iloilo City's Floral Diversity features handcrafted crochet flowers symbolizing Iloilo's thriving ecosystems and vibrant communities. Created in collaboration with Joana Viena Triol, a local MSME and handmade crochet Artēsana, the installation celebrates local craftsmanship and sustainable artistry.

Sailing Stories, designed by architecture student Kate Tillo, features colorful paraw-inspired artworks depicting Iloilo's iconic landmarks, festivals, and local delicacies, honoring the province's cultural identity.

Completing the showcase is Bloom of Light: Illuminating Iloilo's Floral Heritage, a radiant installation at Festive Walk Mall, Indoor Atrium that celebrates the beauty and cultural significance of Iloilo's floral heritage. Through its luminous design, it symbolizes creativity, growth, and community, reflecting how Iloilo's identity continues to bloom across generations.

Created by emerging contemporary artist Khyle Columna of Oton, Iloilo, the installation embodies his distinctive artistic vision while serving as a reminder to cherish and protect Panay's natural heritage for future generations.

The music entertainment continues on July 18 with Spill: The Music Festival at Parksquare, providing a platform for live performances and local musical talent.

Literature takes different forms through a Komiks Workshop on July 18 at ILOMOCA and the Iloilo Children’s Book Fair from July 29 to 31 at Festive Walk Iloilo. The activities invite creators, families, and young readers to explore storytelling through words, illustrations, and books.

Dance, theater, and local storytelling come together in Haraya: An Ilonggo Cultural Show on July 27 at the Annex Building. Presented in collaboration with West Visayas State University’s TeatroTayo, the production brings Ilonggo stories and traditions to the stage through movement and live performance.

Cinema concludes the month-long celebration with a screening of With Love, Bridgit, a film by Kevin Piamonte, on July 31 at ILOMOCA’s The Box.

Complementing the seven creative expressions is Taste of Iloilo, happening from July 17 to 19 at Festive Walk Parade. The three-day gathering brings local dishes and familiar Ilonggo flavors into the celebration, offering another way for the community to experience the city’s culture.

Through Experience Iloilo City, Iloilo Business Park strengthens its growing role as Iloilo City’s Center of Arts and Culture, creating more spaces for Ilonggo creativity, stories, and traditions to be experienced and shared.
