Chef’s Inspired Ilonggo Selection and Oyster Bar at Ang Kamalig Restaurant

ILOILO CITY - Chef Miguel Treñas and his culinary team came up with new dishes at Ang Kamalig Restaurant, the Chef’s Inspired Ilonggo Selection and Oyster Bar. These delectable offerings were recently launched in a buffet dinner with selected guests and bloggers.

The young chef continues to create innovative and scrumptious dishes to satisfy Ilonggos who are always seeking new gastronomic experiences. “My family alone are very critical when it comes to food, so at Ang Kamalig, we keep on developing new dishes, making sure they are up to par before launching them to the public,” said Chef Miguel.

Chef’s Inspired Ilonggo Selection
“I was very much inspired by the local ingredients available in Panay, such as green mangoes and made it the souring ingredient for the Sinigang na Baboy sa Mangga; our fresh shrimps found in our water mixed with salted egg, which for me is very classic Filipino; and our coconut for the Adobong Manok sa Gata.

"I also decided to introduce dishes that are favorites at home, like the Beef Rib Salpicao with lots and lots of garlic, and the Garlic Estofado na Manok,” he added.

After months of experimenting and developing the new dishes, with his family and close friends as his food tasters and critiques, the newest additions to Ang Kamalig’s delectable dishes are finally out.

The Oyster Bar
Ilonggos love to eat oysters, and Chef Miguel wants to serve only the best oysters to their clients. Their Creamy Baked Oysters is a huge hit after it was launched a few months back. This is the reason why the chef decided to introduce the new Oyster Bar with 4 new flavors, which are Oyster Rockefeller, Three Cheese Oysters, Fried Oysters with Aligue, and the Korean Barbecue Oysters.

To be consistent on the quality and taste, only the freshest oysters from Capiz are used, the province known as having the best oysters in the whole of Panay.

Family Favorites, Now Everyone’s Favorites
With the launch of these dishes, the Family Favorites are now all present at Ang Kamalig, where one gets a taste of home.

Chef Miguel’s inspiration continue to be his family and their passion for good food. All dishes served at Ang Kamalig are his family’s favorites, many of which have become their top bestsellers such as Crispy Pata, Pancit Molo, Callos, Bulalo and Chicken Binacol to name just a few.

Chef Miguel wants to share to the Ilonggos the same joy their family experience when eating their delicious home cooked meals from special recipes that they inherited from their great grandparents. After all, it is during meals where families bond the most.
